Contrary to this, with the concept of synchronicity as well as his use of alchemical symbolism, Jung proposed that meaning and numinosity, as expressions of the psychoid archetype, could be inherent properties of not only the psyche but also matter. Such a view arguably fosters a more participative and respectful, rather than instrumental and exploitative, relationship to the physical world.&nbsp; We shall examine some of the experiences and underpinning philosophical assumptions that have been invoked in support of this view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"127\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/paricenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Roderick-Main-127x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7087\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Roderick Main<\/strong>, works at the University of Essex, UK, where he is Professor in the Department of Psychosocial and Psychoanalytic Studies and Director of the Centre for Myth Studies. &nbsp;He is the author of&nbsp;<i class=\"\">The Rupture of Time: Synchronicity and Jung\u2019s Critique of Modern Western Culture<\/i>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<i class=\"\">Revelations of Chance: Synchronicity as Spiritual Experience<\/i>, the editor of&nbsp;<i class=\"\">Jung on Synchronicity and the Paranormal<\/i>, and co-editor of&nbsp;<i class=\"\">Myth, Literature, and the Unconscious<\/i>. &nbsp;He was Principal Investigator in the &nbsp;Arts and Humanities Research Council-funded project \u2018\u201cOne world\u201d: logical and ethical implications
